A godly woman

I’ll never forget the time I was invited to a wedding as a young Christian single in my early twenties. It was held at this wonderful enchanted garden type place with a lake and everything. Well, it just so happened that I was sitting right behind a group of woman who were the friends of the bride. Talk about a front row seat. The ceremony was great up until the minister mentioned that the wife was to submit to her husband. I thought these girls in front of me were going to throw something at either the groom or maybe even the minister all because of this one word submit. I don’t think I ever witnessed anything like that. Heh, I don’t know if you have noticed, but being a godly woman who fears the Lord is not all that popular these days. It’s a challenge to be a godly woman at work, at home, in public, or even at church. Proverbs 12:4 says that, “An excellent wife [is] the crown of her husband, But she who causes shame [is] like rottenness in his bones.” Proverbs 21:9 says, “Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop, Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.” Isn’t that the truth? “They say that behind every powerful man there was a praying woman.” I believe that. There is power when a woman prays for her husband and kids. Abraham Lincoln said, “I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” George Eliot said, “Life began with waking up and loving my mother's face.” Billy Sunday said, “There is nothing in the world of art like the songs mother used to sing.” Wouldn’t you agree that the world needs more God fearing, faithful praying, gospel preaching woman of faith?
