Family of God

How many of you enjoy getting together with your family? No doubt with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas quickly on the horizon we will definitely get to spend some time with our families. Family members come in all different shapes and sizes. Wouldn’t you agree? They have different personalities, and different demeanor's, but at the end of the day we are family. Have you ever noticed that Gods people come in all different shapes and sizes? But as unique as we all are, we still make up one church and one body of believers. Every member plays an important part. Together, we all come with our imperfections, and our baggage, but the Lord still wants to use us anyways. Throughout the bible we see God using all sorts of imperfect people. Noah was a great man of faith who built an ark. But he also became drunk and disorderly. Abraham was a liar on more than one occasion. Jacob was a conniver and a schemer. Rahab was a prostitute. Jeremiah and Timothy were considered too young. David had an affair. Moses was a murderer. Elijah was suicidal at one point. Jonah ran from God. Peter denied Christ. The disciples fell asleep when praying. The Samaritan woman was divorced more than once. Timothy had an ulcer. And Lazarus was dead. What problem do you have? The bible tells us that "God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful." So be encouraged today you are a part of the family!
