A Better Place

The promise that God will make all things new one day is something that all Christians look forward to. Maybe it’s because deep down inside we all know that earth is not our home. We’re not of this world. The bible tells us that God has placed eternity in our hearts. The older you get the more you long for the eternal paradise. Jesus words echo in our hearts, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Jesus not only promised that He was going to prepare a place but He also promised to be the very way to heaven. I read about two teenagers in Chicago who wanted to prove their love for each other. They went to the top of a six story building, kissed each other, and jumped off. They left a note saying, “We’re looking for a better place.” The girl was killed. The boy was seriously injured. The boy said, “I wish someone had told me that there is a better place.” It is true that earth becomes a better place when Christ comes and lives inside us. But Heaven is a better place. Dwight L. Moody was right when he said, “Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.” It’s important that you be prepared to go to heaven. You don’t have to jump off the roof of a building. You just need to give your heart to Jesus!
