A Burden Carried

Recently, I was driving past a Baptist Church here in town and on the sign in front of the church read: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of need.” I thought to myself, “what a perfect verse for me right now.” Over the years this has become one of my favorite verses in the bible especially when you’re going through a difficult time. If you think about it, this verse really doesn’t come alive until you experience a time when God is the only refuge that you can run to. This verse is not fully illustrated until God is the only strength that you have. This verse speaks louder when God is the only one you can rely on in your darkest valley. It’s during these times that we grow the most, pray the hardest, and live the loudest for Jesus Christ. Here is a question for you, “Have you ever noticed how strong an ant is?” Seriously!” According to modern science they say that an ant can carry up to 50 times their own body weight. That’s incredible! An ant was once seen carrying a long piece of straw along a huge rock. Finally it came to a crack in the rock which was like a cliff to the tiny creature. After attempting to take its burden across in several ways, the ant went to one end of the straw and pushed it in front of him over the crack till it reached to the other side. He then crossed over on the straw, and then pulled it after him. Isn’t that cool? What a smart little creature. Heh you guys, on a serious note, there is no burden which you and I carry faithfully and patiently that’s a waste. Someday that burden will become a bridge to carry us. The God of circumstances will not place a burden upon us that is heavier than we can bear. Our burdens are only heavy enough to serve as a bridge to carry us over in such a manner that others may say, “What a powerful God they serve!”
